It is India, 1746. Asyra, 19, has just learned that her grandmother, on her mother's side, has arranged her marriage and wants her back in England. (Asyra was taken to India by her father when her mother died giving birth to Asyra so that is the only life she has known. Now her father is also dead.)

The Duke of Fairmont, Braddock Weston, and Mrs. Campbell are to accompany Lady Asyra Cordeir back to England! In Madras the French attack and so Braddock has to somehow protect the two women. How will they all escape?

Although Asyra can speak English she cannot read it so on the voyage home, Braddock gives her reading lessons from her mother's Bible. Is the man she is supposed to marry, Caine, the one that she loves? How does the story end?

This short book does have an ending but the author says at the end there will be two more books in the series :) Look forward to reading them when they come out. The only thing I did not like in the book was at one point Braddock's recovery seemed a little unreal. I know adrenaline is wonderful stuff but even so.... Rest of it was a great read though. Enjoy!

The characters and story line just didn't have enough time to be developed in this short novella. This would have been an awesome read if developed as a full length book. I felt cheated at the end because there were so many unanswered questions. I never really connected with the characters because you didn't really get to know them.
The premise of this book was good. But the story would have been much better if the relationships between the characters were more developed. It would have been nice if the author had included some meaningful conversations between the characters, so you could understand why they fell in love with each other. But it was still a decent read.
A tender and sweet story, A Heart's Home, by Laura Marshall, pulls you right into Asyra's journey as she leaves India and flees to England with her handsome, future brother-in-law. From the beginning, my heart was drawn to Asyra's tale of loss and hope for what's to come. A short read with a beautiful, heartwarming story of love. Definitely a reread.
This book is about an Indian/English girl who was raised by her father and uncle in India after her mother's death. When she comes of age, her English grandmother arranges a marriage for her and sends an escort to bring her to England. While traveling, they encounter various surprises and trials and through it all, she struggles to find a place to belong. It is a wonderful story of faith, courage, and how a wandering heart finds a home.
I was looking for a short novel to read last Sunday. I was tired, and just needed to de-stress. This book was the perfect choice . The characters are very likeable, the plot was well developed. It was the perfect mix of romance and suspense. I loved that it was a Christian read that followed Christian principles without being preachy Laura J. Marshall is a great writer. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.
A Heart's Home is a wonderful story about a young girl from two worlds and not really knowing her second world. I enjoyed this story very much and was so rooting for it to go the right way for Asyra. But if I tell which way it goes it will spoil it for you.

I was a bit disappointed when it came to an end. I wanted to know more about Asyra. It would be wonderful to see a sequel on the next chapter of Asyra's life and even a glimpse into her past. There was little peeks about her not be a part of India, not fitting in and even though it wasn't relevant to this story, I wondered how exactly was she treated. Were they unkind because they were jealous? How did she get through that time of her life. I wanted to know more.

This was though a perfect read for the end of my day. Get this book and you won't be disappointed. Again it would be wonderful to hear that there is more coming about Asyra.
This book hit a special place in my heart. I'd been to India and loved revisiting it through Asyra's eyes. Also, I was born in England, grew up in America, and have lived overseas, so I know what it's like to feel as if you don't belong anywhere. Laura J. Marshall captured that feeling in such a poignant way, as well as the journey toward finding a home in one's faith and in the heart of another. What a beautiful story!
